...Personality...

Emotionally distant and a man of few words, Estinien is blunt and to the point. Driven by a singular purpose, which is to exact vengeance for his family, he has little patience for anything that he perceives as weak or a waste of his time. His abrasive personality has garnered him few friends though if one were to ask Estinien, having fewer ties would be his preference.Those who have managed to form a connection with him and gain his trust are still rebuffed and treated with short words. Openly showing affection is a challenge for Estinien, who fears being emotionally vulnerable to the point that he often clads himself in his drachen armor no matter where he goes.Eventually when Estinien begins to heal, he acknowledges the negative effects that his quest for vengeance had on him. Yet never one to dwell overlong on his emotions, Estinien still has difficulty settling down and committing.

...Biography...

Born and raised in a small village called Ferndale in Coerthas, Estinien was the eldest son of a farming couple and spent most of his years tending to sheep in the pastures outside the village. When he turned ten and two, tragedy struck when Nidhogg and his brood razed his home to the ground, his entire family taken from him in a single moment. Orphaned and left only with his grief, Estinien was taken in by Ser Alberic Bale, the Azure Dragoon of the time.Alberic became a father to Estinien though their relationship was often strained with Estinien harboring a deep resentment towards the man who failed to save his family. He would spend time in and out of Ishgard, often staying in the Brume and it was there he met and became fast friends with a young boy named Haurchefant. And through Haurchefant, he would eventually meet Aymeric.Under Alberic’s tutelage, Estinien honed his skills in combat and joined the Temple Knights along with Aymeric. Together they were the sole survivors of a dragon attack that slaughtered their entire squadron. Having dedicated himself wholly to his training, Estinien endured the rigorous ordeals required to become a member of the Order of the Knights Dragoon and was chosen as the Azure Dragoon not long after the days following the Seventh Umbral Calamity, when Ishgard was in most desperate need of a hero and a protector.As the Azure Dragoon, he would often strike out on his own only returning to Ishgard as his duties commanded him. Even in the early days, his nascent bond with Nidhogg’s Eye was enough that the dread wyrm’s influence would soon begin to poison his thoughts and feelings, fueling his thirst for vengeance ever further.

...Points of Interest...

Estinien changed physically and spiritually after Nidhogg's possession. Having been bound body and soul to the wyrm for as long as he was, meant that not even removing the eyes from the body could wholly remove the vestigial pieces of Nidhogg so entangled with his being.Physical changes include: draconic eyes that glow faintly red in the dark. scales upon his body. nails slowly hardening and sharpening into claws and his teeth becoming fangs. He's far stronger than before along with enhanced senses. his lifespan too has been extended with the possibility of living for thousands of years.Aetheric changes include: the ability to sense aether around him. his aetheric composition resembling that of a dragon's. his aetheric alignment aspected towards umbral fire and wind. like all dragons do, estinien now also absorbs ambient aether without realizing.

......PRELUDE / PRE-HEAVENSWARD....... Chosen as the Azure Dragoon, Estinien shoulders the mantle of a supposed hero and defender to his nation though in reality, his station is but a means to an end. For he is the hunter and his prey is none other than the great wyrm Nidhogg. Aught else matters until he can finally slay the beast who took his family from him.......DRAGONSONG / HEAVENSWARD....... War looms ever closer on the horzen, churning as a crackling storm and in those thunderheads are the shadows of dragons. Now more than ever must Estinien bring an end to Nidhogg’s reign of terror. Who else but the Azure Dragoon can stand between his people and the Dravanian Horde?......LITANY / POST-HEAVENSWARD....... A thousand years of suffering, a thousand years of strife and battle finally come to an end. Having known nothing but war for his entire life, peace seems like a dream. With the Azure Dragoon no longer needed, Estinien must now find his place within the world and more importantly find himself while he heals in body and soul.......DIRGE / AMAUROT....... Long ago on a forgotten star lived a hero and protector of a great city, Achilles as he was known only to those closest to his heart. To others he was a disillusioned guardian, grown bitter and jaded to the city he called home.......ELISION / CROSSOVER....... Hydaelyn is but one star among many and though travel across the rift is considered impossible, through the powers unknown to he, has Estinien arrived upon strange lands. Thus must he work with what he can and adapt to his new surroundings.
